Premiere Week

September 22nd, 2008
By

So it's finally here.

Dunno wat I'm talking about?

It's da...  "If I miss da first - or second - episode I not going know wat da heck is going on in da show latahz" season.

Yup. The new fall season for most - if not all - da tv shows are coming up this week to the next and it's time to set your DVR, TiVo, VCR.... gulp.... Betamax.

Of course Da Wife already has "programmed" our DVR fo' wat seems like da next two months and has filled da memory. Our shows (can you guess who's is who's?) goes:

  • Dancing With The Stars
  • Grey's Anatomy
  • Lost (btw, check out The Advertiser's own Caryn Kunz's Lost In Hawaii blog for you fanatics during da season. Got some great "tidbits" about da show as it goes along!)
  • Chuck
  • NCIS
  • Eli Stone
  • House
  • Pushing Daisies
  • Dirty Sexy Money (still on da fence about 'dis one)
  • Bones
  • Ugly Betty
  • Brothers & Sisters
  • The Unit

Geez, dat's a lot of shows yeah?! But it's spread out through da week so no look as bad, right?

And I'm sure a couple more will pop up as new shows try to fight for your airtime viewing pleasure.

Wat are your favorite shows dat you "have" to watch? Have you gotten into a show late (not from da first season)? You even watch tv?

DA PIDGIN WORD OF DA DAY! -
(as quoted from Da Kine Dictionary & Pidgin To Da Max… wit a Braddah Lance twist)

AN 'DEN
(pronounced same as spelled)

Haole Translation: What happened next?

Use: Usually said in response to someone telling a story or trying to find out more to it

Sentence: opso:  “Ho, I wen meet 'dis chick last week.”
BL: "An 'den? Nevah score eh?"

Sentence: JuSaMee: "Last night I fo'got to set da recorder fo' tonights show so I wen panic out."
BL: “An 'den wat you wen do?"

I'm SO EXCITED.........can't you tell? ;-)

In recent years there are no tv series shows I gotta watch. It's mostly some UH sports, some news, some OC16 local shows like "local bruddahs", "eh, you da kine" or whatever that might be on that interest me...I do watch a lot of dvd movies. Wife, on the other hand, has choke number of tv shows, especially K-drama, that she must watch. DVR has been heaven sent for her.

  8. B:

In our family, we fight for the DVR. For some reason. my programs disappear. WWD????? grrrr. Gotta go buy my own and program it for all my stuff and my stuff only. Lost
    Heroes
    The Unit
    The Office
    30 Rock
    Criminal Minds
    The Soup

Getting into Fringe. That show is pretty cool. Like a reimagined X-files, from the mind of JJ Abrams. The other show I was getting into this summer was Flashpoint.

I watch too much danged tv.
I hate when get a pretty good show, and that buggah get canceled mid-season. Last year, I was into Studio 60, Kidnapped, and The Black Donnellys. All canceled. Some poho I feel after that.

  13. Braddah Lance:

    hemajang:

  15. Ocean Lover (Answering BL):

Yes, Horatio Caine is THE MAIN GUY on CSI Miami.
HOW can he die and the show continue?

    OL

  16. islandgirl in nc:

Da hubby and I watch Dancing w/the Stars, NCIS and Bones together. I like Criminal Minds, CSI NY and CSI. He likes to watch football (of course) and Formula One racing. Yes, he does record some of these if we are not home. It's about time the new season comes along. After the strike last season and the time we did not have new shows for weeks, it'll be nice if this season is uninterrupted. Gotta love the DVR too!

  17. MoOgooGuypAN:

Likw BF, Heroes is at the top of my list. I gotta throw in Biggest Loser too. Oh and the new season of Bizzarre Foods starts this week too. Speaking of bizzarre foods, just tried some billy goat meat and skin cooked in it's bile at one 1st birthday party. Kinda tastes like the smell of the elephant containers at the Zoo. Interesting.

  18. Reido:

Me and the family watch Dancing with the Stars. And we watch American Idol when that's on. Other than that, we don't have a favorite show. I usually work late, so I can't guarantee watching a show every week. Instead, I usually channel surf. On any given night, we could be watching everything from a HBO movie to Soko Ga Shiritai.

At 9:00, me and the wife usually watch re-runs of Two and a Half Men and Everybody Loves Raymond after that.

  19. Braddah Lance:

    BananaFysh:
Heroes....Getting into Fringe....I hate when get a pretty good show, and that buggah get canceled mid-season.

Yeah, fo' got about Heroes although from da previews looks kinda "fake" already - getting outta hand. Da Wife likes Fringe too but I no watch cause same time as my bowling league night and yeah we hate wen da show cancel mid-season. We were watching Men In Trees and TWICE was cut off and on... WWD!

    opso:

Yeah, sucks working late and "primetime" ovah yeah? Soko Ga Shiritai.... I like watching dat too but always make me wish I was there tryin' out everything they doing.

  20. JuSaMee:

i've been waiting for this week for awhile too!! lol!! got my DVR all set up last friday...here's what i got:

    heroes
    amazing race
    survivor
    house
    CSI (las vegas)
    criminal minds
    america's next top model

speaking of new shows...has anyone seen the game show, holes? FUNNY stuff...i was crackin' up when i watched it. i think it's on FOX! maybe not worth DVR'n, but if you don't have anything else to watch on thursday (i think???) you should check it out!

  21. Kelli:

Aigoo... I don't watch much TV. The only things I catch are the news and more news. I watch my Korean dramas on mysoju.com when I have time. I haven't even finished one episode since school started. What a shame!

  22. sassy7:

Okay...me and my girls love Ugly Betty, Brothers and Sisters, Greys Anatomy....my younger one will also sit and watch Desperate Housewives. I use to like that show that was a spin off of Greys Anatomy can't remember the name. Hubby is thankful that football season started...an den more excited that his Dallas Cowboys are doing so AWESOME!!...eh no make...I get DALLAS cowboy Christmas tree and all....
I miss my Korean Soaps tho....I really got into them...love all the respect lessons that the parents continually tried to instill into their keiki's, an den how they mana pai the kids right there on the show....whew we need them small kine mana pai sometimes..you know what I mean...

You know wat? I jus' saw dat da oddah week too and was crackin' up. No offense JuSaMee but all I was tinking was "wat if dey had 3 sole braddahs as one team vs 3 sumotori's". Whoa!

    Kelli:

  26. skycastles:

I'm a total TV addict so I got a lot of shows that I gotta watch. If I can't make it, I usually try to watch online before the next week's episode so I can be caught up.

    Here's my list:
    Grey's Anatomy
Private Practice - I'm giving them one more season to make me love the show, but I think that Addison should just go back to Seattle Grace.
Prison Break - My friends got me into watching the DVDs of past seasons and now I'm hooked
    Heroes
Fringe - I watched the first episode and it's not bad. Hopefully the don't cancel this one
    NCIS
    Numb3rs

Last season I was getting into that vampire show Moonlight and they canceled 'em on me!

  27. Ocean Lover (Thanks BL):

I'm gonna start going "Ai Goo!" and see the look on my wife's face. I'm gonna act like EVERYBODY SAYS DAT and make HER THINK she's "out of touch". ;-)

    OL

  28. BananaFysh:

    Ai goo! (hehe)

I forgot one of my favorites! 24! Gotta love Jack Bauer!

Forgot the summertime shows too -
    The Closer
    Burn Notice

Dang it! I watch WAY too much TV.

  29. bamboohouse808:

Wit da new baby and all, I haven't been watching too much tv recently. BUT......now that the new fall season is starting, I gotta watch:

    - Heroes
    - Lost
    - How I Met Your Mother
    - The Office

My wife gotta watch(sometimes I gotta watch too)

    - The Hills
    - Grey's Anatomy
    - John and Kate Plus 8

And da one show dat neva go out of season.....SPORTS CENTER!! :)

  30. JuSaMee:

hey BL...i think if they did have 3 sole's on one team it'd be the same as what happened to those 3 female body builders...lol!! that one lady kept breakin' the "wall"!! i wonder tho, if she did break the wall, but stayed outta the water would that still have counted?? lol!! maybe cuz the teams are on tv, in front of an audience, or playin' for money that they cannot concentrate...but most of the time they didn't use their common sense to get thru the hole...lol!!

  31. kikaida:

Waiting for Rescue Me to return, not sure when, but for now Sons of Anarchy has captured my interest. I guess I can daydream being a "biker" through this show! (Eh you too BL!)

Will watch Heroes tonight and see how it goes... second season was a bit disappointing!

  32. Goodbeer:

Since I gotta work at night too, prime time TV is not on my schedule. So when conversation turns to what's happening on what show, I really am "Lost".

  33. 9th Island Girl:

I'm glad OL got an explanation for "aigoo" because I didn't know what the heck that was either.

I used to be a faithful Heroes watcher, but I think it started to go downhill shmall kine last season.

Other than that, I watch whenever I can:
    Dancing with the Stars
    American Idol
So You Think You Can Dance
    The Closer
    Grey's Anatomy
    Eli Stone

  34. NKHEA:

Whoa, wen u guy's get all the time fo watch TV 8O We usually watch da 6:00 news and da 10:00 news, das about it :( En-den we watch DVD's on da weekends.....if not pah-taying :)

  35. visitor:

Kinda lost interest in many of the programs...used to watch Grey's Anatomy, but got tired. Can't stand the "reality" shows. The last series that I made it a point to watch was '24.' Family likes K-dramas and American Idol. For me, it's mostly news and ESPN. Also, always check PBS...got some good programs like NOVA, local programs and music specials.

  36. Braddah Lance:

    skycastles:

  37. Scott:

    (off topic) It's a BOY!

(on topic)-Family Guy, Office Space and Lost are the shows I watch. Like PBS Hawaii occasionally, espcially some surf documentaries. What's that guy's name who made Endless Summer? Barry something...

  38. visitor:

BL - That's right about Nat'l Geo and Discovery...also cannot forget about the Food Channel.

  39. NKHEA:

TERRIFIC! Now for sure you not gonna be able to watch television!

A KWONIC gives birth..........now you bettah teach BL HOW ITS DONE!

    OL

  41. Scott:

We traced the day of conception to the exact day, June 6th. I was in Maui for work that day, so for a second I was like HUH?! Did the UPS guy come that day? Milk man? No, it was just very early bumping and grinding:) Thank God she doesn't read this blog!

Hopefully my mom can steal plenty of film from Sam's Photo Dept. She was up for Employee of the Month, but they decided she crosses her arms too much:)

  42. BananaFysh:

    Hey, Congrats Scott! :D

Hey, Scott's maddah at Sam's Club can make plenny baby pictures for cheap, eh? ;)

Ai goo! I forgot Family Guy as well! :(

  43. Ynaku:

Hey Scott. Congrats Daddy-o. I also forgot that Zee also had Baby Girl. Was wondering if she gave birth before da blog shutdown. Congrats too momma.

Thanks OL for asking about Ai-goo. I thought I was out of touch and shame ask. So how is it pronounced? I Go or I goo? Ai-goo

That Ultimate Fighter from Maui, Kendell Grove is opening up a gym on Maui with Big Island boy, Troy "Rude Boy" Mandaloniz. Both were on different Ultimate Fighter Shows. I know Troy's mom very well and she supports her son, BUT won't watch him fight. Can't blame her for not wanting to see her BABY fighting and/or getting hurt.

Now as for those new TV shows, I willing to watch anything as long as we can sit with NKHEA and drink beea and eat pupu. No matter what stay on TV. An'den we find new reason for Pahty. Chee Hooo!!! :)

  44. Ocean Lover (Detective OL):

"We traced the day of conception to the exact day, June 6th." - Scott

HOLD ON! HOLD ON! If you traced da day of "OOMPAH" to June 6th.....and your wife gave birth today or this weekend and its September 22 now................

  46. Ocean Lover (Detective OL):

    Did you mean January 6th?

Bettah be, uddahwise we got one TALKING/TYPING BIRD ova hea.

    OL

  47. Ynaku:

I'm so confused too  OL, Scott is confused due to lack of sleep. Give da brother a break and a calculator. hehe  February 9 months ago, was a cold morning. Scott's wife needed warming up before he takes off for Maui. One thing led to another and Ai-goo, one baby girl came into da world. :) happy days

  48. Ynaku:

Give me one calculator too cause I wrong.

  49. Scott:

Hey OL-I expedited the process. He's off to college next fall!

I should have clarified-we got a sonogram today, she's 4.5 months pregnant and we could see his little pee-pee, so that's how we know.

  50. Ocean Lover (Detective OL):

    YNAKU-

"AI GOO! AI GOO!" I just had to throw dat out and say dat. ;-) You probably right, da bruddah is all "lo lo" from lack of sleep!

Yeah, Scott was on work on Maui dat day. Told the wife, "You know hon.....I'm going to Maui today....and I don't feel comfortable riding the plane.....I think we should.....ah....ah...."OOMPAH" just in case this is the last time."

You go get um Scott! I'm gonna try dat and see if works for me.

  51. Ocean Lover (Detective OL):

  66. Syxx:

I don't watch mainstream TV because I'm a fool for anime...There is one show I try to watch every season though, Miami Ink. I know tattoos are seen as nasty by most people but to me it could be so much deeper than that, given that you are getting tattooed for the right reasons.

  67. anklebiters:

    OL:

What a let down on the Horatio shooting eh? :-) Darn buggas :!:

  68. Ocean Lover (Horation Lives!):

    Anklebiters,

In the back of my mind I just KNEW he had to be alive. At the beginning of the show when they showed his picture and name during the pre-show credits, my wife said "See! He's still on the show!"

    OL

  69. Ynaku:

WHAT HAPPENED??? I couldn't watch TV last night. Wife was watching Heros. Son watching, who knows what. I hope my DVR was set. DANG, maybe it wasn't since I took it off during reruns. Guess I gotta go watch online. Horatio had to be alive. Da bugga was twitching at the end of last season. And I agree with Missus OL, still get his name. Now go get dat Pilau guy dat wen shoot em. He no learn.

  70. anklebiters:

    Just like Delko's shooting....and he's back.

In NCSI season two, last episode, they killed off Kate....that was a disappointment. I liked her then and even when she was on Dawson's Creek.

I wish they would bring Speed back...it was nice to see him again for just an episode last season. I'm waiting for Sara to return on CSI: Vegas !!!

  72. honda si boy:

  73. Mokihana:

Definitely Dancing wit Da Stars. I heard Phyllis Diller (she stay 82 years old anden) going be one of dem. I wen catch her on some program while at da gym... da wahine is a crack up! Outa control her! I can only imagine how she going be on da dance floor!

  74. lj:

Bones is one of my favorites -- I like the way she takes things literally and responds to people...it's funny. And Grey's Anatomy, Ugly Betty, House, Heros are on the DVR list :)

Well let's jus' say she got a lot of character! She good fun fo' watch da slow kine dance but she not goin' handle da fast ones. She is funny though and very witty.

  77. JindoMaster808:

Ai goo? I thought this was an opso-exclusive expression. But no more.

@BL - An 'den - Is that an intentional 'okina or just came out that way? Fancy!

@syxx - Miami Ink, LA Ink - too many tattoos for my tastes. But the artwork is just amazing. I didn't know they could draw such realistic art on skin.

@ynaku - "Princess Bride da Musical." Let's all go see it with Shauna. Sounds like fun.

That hole in the wall game show sounds like the one based on the Japanese show called "Human Tetris." There's lots of videos on YouTube. Funny stuff... especially when the hole has a pointed corner sticking up around the crotch area. :o

    My shows (not too many):
    - John and Kate Plus 8
    - Bizzare Foods
    - Soko Ga Shiritai
    - Heroes (I got hooked on Monday, now I gotta catch up last 2 seasons)
    - maybe I'll start watching Fringe, too.

And I just hate reality programs. The contest shows are ok. But all the people with big egos want to be the center of attention. Enough already!
