Fo' me, it signals da start of da holiday season especially once da old school Charlie Brown cartoons begin playing with each respective holiday. 'Dis past Tuesday, "It's The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown" was airing on tv and I'm glad dat tradition still continues today - especially in 'dis technological world we live in wea even get 4-D!

So let me ask 'dis, do you still celebrate Halloween? If so, adults, wat do you do? Back in da day, da boys and I used to do da club scene and boy was it wild! Get au' kine costumes - or lack thereof - and some very original and ingenious.

I once saw a couple dressed up as an electrical socket and a light bulb - I'm sure you must have seen it once before. Da trippy part was dat da guy (light bulb) had da two prong plugs by his you know wat. Da wahine (electrical socket) had two sockets - one was her head and da oddah was you know wea. 

Hea's da supah cool part. Da guy would stick his "prongs" into da "socket" and da whole bulb would actually light up! Unrealz.

Fo' da keiki - wea do you take 'em? Shopping malls? Your own neighborhood? Da "rich" neighborhoods? Do you enter them in contests? Make your own? Eat all their candy? 

If you have pets, do you dress 'em up? 

Have you carved pumpkins? Da Wife and I once went to da pumpkin patch at Aloun Farms and dat was fun... something you should try at least once - especially if you have keiki.

When it appears that you have killed the monster, NEVER check to see if it's really dead. It isn't.

Lots of people had lots of things to say and you know wat? It was very very nice to read every single comment - even though I wasn't able to reply in my normal fashion, I sincerely appreciated every single one.

Wassap Wit Dat!

Wen it rains... it pours yeah? 

Waking up this morning I still thought it was like 4:00am cause it was so dark. The vog in addition to da blanket of cloud cover smoothering da wind doesn't make your mood any bettah neither.

I would say I'm a weather person - weather affects me. I could be in a crappy mood, hunched ovah in pain but if it's a gorgeous sunny trade wind day I'll spend some time outside jus' enjoying da scenery and I'm au' good.... no mattah wea I stay.

Town, North Shore, Vegas, LA... no mattah. If da air is good and da sun is out no mattah how I feelin', I'm a renewed man (or boy, depends how you see me). 

Today I have nothing to blog about. Seriously, jus' drawing a blank. Lots of things running through my mind both personally and professionally. Things I can't jus' yet talk about as I'm figuring 'em out and Mahalo in advance cause I know you Kwonics going share your mana'o anyways.

I apologize for being such a downer, especially at da beginning of da week, and if there's no post for a day or two please hang in there and don't give up on WWD! cause I'm still hea!

I'll let off some frustration at softball tonight but 'den again I'd probably want to kill da ball and 'den I'd pop up cause dat's wat happens wen you swing too hard and lose focus and technique and 'den I'd be even mo' aggro and 'den start making errors on defense and 'den be even mo' salty.... no can win. 

But 'den get da "team meeting" aftah da game......

We don't need to know who you're voting for - just as long as you head to the voting booth and submit your ballot. If you already voted by absentee, terrific!

With election day right around the corner, I sincerely hope that none of you feel like it's a "chore" or not "worth it". Sure it takes time but if you no vote..... NO COMPLAIN! 

One thing that always seems to accompany election year - especially high profile years - are smear tactics. As if issues of the state or nation wasn't enough - there has to be name calling, "lies" and dirt digging on opponents thrown in the mix.

Me personally? I'm all about character.

I'd rather stand side by side with a person I respect and can look dead in the eye without ever thinking if I can trust him or her. For the most part, I think most politicians have lost that genuine touch. Instead, they've developed "skills" to be able to do that - look trusting - without even batting an eye.

Issues are extremely important and if your platform can't back it up, you surly won't get my vote... it doesn't help your cause if you look "crooked" either.   

The last Mayoral and Presidential debates sure tested those.

Not sure if you noticed it or not but the "underdogs" relied on character attacks to discredit their opponents. They also cut off their opponents as they were speaking, rolled their eyes along with other "childish" acts.

It was like a MMA (mixed martial arts) match without the physicality of it.... although a lot of jabs were being thrown.

If they act like that in a public forum, how would they act in negotiations that don't go their way? 

It reminds me of movies like Dave and American President and the way they acted that would make me vote for them in a heartbeat. But the one speech that sticks out in my mind was the one by President Shepard (Michael Douglas) finally responding to the many uncalled for character attacks by his opponent.

If you haven't seen the movie, I'd recommend it. Here's the clip and if you aren't moved by it.... not sure what would....

There's a lot of "stuff" going on dat needs sorting out and it's one of those things you jus' don't know wat da answer(s) is. You look for a sign, you look for hints.... you jus' "looking".

You hope the people you trust can guide you or at least give you some motivation but at the same time you're still worried about any "info" you receive. You're in a world of hurt and uncertainty and it totally sucks.... BIG TIME!

And I just HAD to share 'dis! I'm a happy-go-lucky kine guy so no mattah wat happens, wen I see anything dat has a Feel Good vibe to it, I can't help but laugh, smile, grin.... change my mood. Recently I've been actually looking forward to seeing 'dis commercial cause every single time my face lights up and I jus' wanna join 'em.... you could say..... I "understand" them.

Well speaking of getting in da mood...... hea's Tex Beneke and the Glenn Miller Orchestra performing...... "In The Mood"..... brought back some awesome old school memories..... LOVE dat big band sound and they put on a good show too!

We got word last week that a very close friend of mine (BFF for 20+ years) had decided to move back to Colorado. Well, she's actually a Kalihi girl but moved up there (CO) about five years ago, came back to Hawaii for a couple years and now decided to go back.

I can't blame her. The opportunities are better for her and they (with husband) just bought a HUGEMANGEOUS house! I'm talkin' supah nice and brand new lookin' too! I was so "J" and for a second there Da Wife and I looked at each oddah and had a moment - should we move to da mainland?

Before I answer dat, my friend had planned a little get together (one of a handful before she goes back in a month) so we all met up at Dave & Busters (D&B) for some fun.

Da Wife and I were late in meeting up and she didn't feel like eating D&B food so we ended up going to....

Yowza's! Believe it or not, dat's fo' plate lunches!

We went outside. They give you a numbah to place on your table so they can find you and bring your food out.

Da Wife ordered da Grilled Portabella Mushroom sandwich - she said was good.

I had da BBQ plate (takes 10 minutes to cook so gotta wait) which was teri-chicken and steak... yeah, wea's da beef?.... and I waited fo' dat? 

The food we had was flavorful and presented "gourmet" style but the fo' da price? No comment. So how da buggahs rate on da Shaka Scale?

Was good but not great - definetly no bang fo' da buck but if you like fancy plate lunches or you not buying, go check 'em out. 

Oh, there was still D&B. In case you don't know wat D&B is - it's a Fun Factory (old school) or Tilt (real old school)  fo' adults. You get au' kine games, food, drinks and even a club upstairs! We just stayed in da gameroom and had a "couples" competition wea you picked a game dat gave out tickets and whoevah got da best scores from da games, kept all da tickets.... guess which couple won?     

There were a few games dat caught my eye.....

Jus' like da real game show, get wahines and of course..... NO DEAL! 

My friend actually won da top prize! Only if he could do dat in real life.

Da Wife and I couldn't resist in playin' some old school Donkey Kong Jr. 

Aftah all dat, had to get some ice cream next door at Cold Stone Creamery and along da way saw this posted inside da door of Quicksilver....

Some secret garlic sauce Great Hawaiian Hotdog. We were really surprised they had a "stand" right in front of the theaters.... see how long we haven't gone out!

Yup, first condiment.... jalepenos.        They also have da standard: ketchup, mustard and cheese. Their "secret" garlic sauce is quite good though and the hot dog was tasty and juicy.
