#1, 2 or 3?
By Braddah Lance
Last night, Da Wife and I was ovah leftovahs so we decided to pick something up aftah my basketball game last night.
You would think by now that I would know wat to order for myself or even Da Wife and it's ALWAYS - ok, 97% of da time - da same thing.
BL: *about one car length away from ordering* "Babe, so wat you like?"
DA WIFE: "Hmmm......"
BL: *at da ordering window now* "So wat you like?"
DA WIFE: "Double cheeseburger mighty kids meal."
BL:
*she ALWAYS gets dat* "Wat kine drink?"
DA WIFE: "Coke."
BL:
*she ALWAYS gets dat* "I'll have da numbah 13 with an extra large diet coke."
BL: "Babe, you like anything else?"
DA WIFE: "Oh, an ice cream cone."
BL:
*das something new*
And dat's kinda da conversation at every place we eat. We both know wat each oddah's getting but we ourselves always toil ovah if we going get something different.
That got me thinking. Humans, like animals, are creatures of habit. We tend to do da samething whether we want something "different" or not. At da drive thru's, da restaurant even at potlucks there's something there dat will always be there and if not, you going notice.
Da Wife knows for me that most times I try something different it ends ups being a disappointment. It's because of dat let down, I'm gun shy about trying something new but being da lolo dat I am anyways, I still gotta try once in awhile.
Da only thing I try different without hesitation is beea.
At Mickey D's, I'm into da new 1/3# burgahs while Da Wife almost always gets da double cheeseburgah mighty kids meal. At Jack's, it's either da sirloin burgah or da chicken club (hold da mayo). L&L - Pearl City only - I gotta get da mini katsu curry all brown rice. Subway's is chicken breast, honey mustard and everything - extra tomatoes - no oil & vinegar. Chun Wah Kam gotta get udon, chow fun, garlic chicken and spicy eggplant and if get left, rice cake.
So wat's your numbah? Wat do you always tend to order and at wat fast food/restaurant? Do you know wat your oddah half always orders and do you get futless wen they take long time and then still order da same thing?
Wat kine creature you?
*Oh yeah, did I mention dat we nevah get our ice cream cone and if wasn't for one truck stopped in front of us waiting for da rest of their order we would have left without it.*
DA PIDGIN WORD OF DA DAY! -
(as quoted from Da Kine Dictionary &/or Pidgin To Da Max… wit a Braddah Lance twist)
FUTLESS
(said like it's spelled)
Haole Translation: Frustrated, confused, spaced out
Sentence: “Brah, no need ack futless wen no go your way.”
Sentence: “How come you so futless for?”

Wassup Wit Dat!

I had that Angus combo at McD's yesterday too. Yummy. But I have to spread around the mayo because they just glob it on there and I don't want a mouth full of mayo in one bite.
September 28th, 2009 at 9:18 am
Good Morning BL!
At Micky D's it's da Big Mac fo me all da time.
At Subway, it's always da Club sandwich.
At L&L it's always da chicken katsu
At Rainbows it's always da Boneless Chicken.
Shave ice, it's always Strawberry flavor.
September 28th, 2009 at 9:18 am
At McD's, always the same thing for me: filet o'fish. Always the same thing for him: grilled chicken southwest salad.
For my daughter: mcnugget happy meal, no sauce, and either a chocolate shake or a fruit punch.
At Subway, always the same for me: honey oat ham, provolone, mustard, all the vegetables except for jalapeno; always the same for my daughter: ham, provolone, lettuce, tomatoes, olives. My husband sometimes likes to get grilled chicken teriyaki. Always Diet Coke.
I get futless when Subway runs out of honey oat. What to choose? Wheat?

Aloha All,
I try to order something different whenever possible. I like to cook so ordering different things helps to expand the range of what you can cook. The wife always orders the same thing. She is kinda hard luck since it seems everytime she tries something different she doesn't like it or it really is junk. So many times she just so envious my food look more ono than hers. She always drink red wine when we go out but I usually drink something different. I have tried just about all the different beers at Bar 35 and if you been there you know it's a lot.
September 28th, 2009 at 9:41 am
McD - Quarter pounder meal.
Quiznos - Primerib & peppercorn, hold the onions.
L & L, Rainbows and any other local grinds - Would kill for one here in GA.
September 28th, 2009 at 9:46 am
masako likes to always have something different, so I wouldn't know what to order for her.
September 28th, 2009 at 10:06 am
That story was too funny. I guess most couples are alike.
My husband always take long to order at ramen restaurant (and everywhere else) but would always end up eating shoyu ramen. They once got the order wrong and gave him miso ramen instead. Now he orders miso ramen. I told him...perfect example that you should try different things...you never know.
September 28th, 2009 at 10:15 am
BL,
I like to try different things so I don't have any favorites. But, for us the hardest thing is deciding where to go.
Me: where do you what to order from ?
Wife: I don't care, what do you want to eat ?
Me: Okay, let's go to ************** #
Wife: nah, I don't want anything from there. #
Me: okay, where then ? #
Wife: up to you. #
Me: grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr, okay how about *************** ? #
Wife: okay, I like that place.
# - this can be repeated more than once !
Aigoo, michosoo.
September 28th, 2009 at 10:18 am
Mickey D's - either filet o fish or chicken mcnuggets meal....i've actually never eaten a big mac from there...LOL i don't even kno why
Subway - always the Italian BMT
L & L's or any oddah plate lunch place - whatever I'm in da mood for.
September 28th, 2009 at 10:18 am
I always say I going try something new, but end up ordering the same things most of the time.
I am not afraid of trying new food, just when the pressure is on, I cave and go with the usual.
BTW, you not as loud as everyone said you are... hahaha.
September 28th, 2009 at 10:26 am
i always order the same thing, too... especially if i've had something that was good, i don't like to be disappointed, too! mcd's - plain cheeseburger, small fries, subway - sweet onion chicken teriyaki, jack in the box - breakfast jack (no matter what time).
September 28th, 2009 at 10:30 am
The problem masako and have is where to go to eat. We always don't know where to go or what we feel like eating.
September 28th, 2009 at 10:40 am
At In-n-Out I always get the #2, cheeseburger no onion.
September 28th, 2009 at 10:44 am
I had In N Out for lunch today and ordered the same thing as always - #1 Double Double, fries and Diet Coke. At McD's I always order the Big Mac meal. At Country Harvest a chef salad, at Lupe's one beef taco a la carte and side of beans and at The Habit either a ceasar salad with chicken or kids grilled cheese (it depends on how much money I have). I usually always stick to the same thing because I am not very adventurous with food. Hubby has a lot of favorites but will pretty much eat anything I order for him.
September 28th, 2009 at 10:52 am
My husband is a "creature of habit" and always orders the same thing. Here are some examples:
Chick Fil-A - #1, large with coke
McAlisters (deli) - grilled chicken breast on sourdough w/honey mustard and large iced tea
Firehouse Subs - steak and cheese, no peppers and light onions w/coke
Mizuho - Shrimp tempura and teriyaki chicken combo w/coke
Wendy's - #1 large, no cheese with only ketchup and mustard and sweet tea
Five Guys - Little hamburger w/ketchup and mustard only and a coke
It's usually me who does the ordering at the fast food places only because he has the same thing all the time. I like to order different things but sometimes I end up being so indecisive. I guess it's easier when you order the same thing all the time.
September 28th, 2009 at 11:02 am
for fast food, most tastes the same so i pretty much order the same things every time: McD's (Mac's Steakhouse) QPC meal. Taco Bell (Mexican Phone Company) 3 taco meal. In-n-out cheesburger, grilled onions, fries well done.
for restaurants, I pretty much order based on what I'm feeling like that day, but for new restaurants I have "benchmark" dishes that i like to try to judge the overall quality. for Japanese restaurants, I always order katsu or tempura. the katsu has to be moist and the skin can't fall off. the tempura has to be lightly battered and not oily. if it fails those tests, then i don't go back.
same thing for other cuisines and particular benchmark dishes.

... Braddah Lance ... I think we're all basically the same at new places ... try something different in the beginning ... and then after we find out what we really like ... we tend to get it all the time ... nuttin' wrong wit dat ...
... don't go to McD's much ... when I do, it's a filet-o-fish ...
... at Jacks ... I like the Spicy Chicken Sandwich ... uhm ... numbah 7??? ...
... at Burger King ... I love the Grilled Chicken Sandwich ...
... about da FUTLESS word ... I've never known it to mean confused or spaced out ... learn something new ... I always associated futless with some kind of frustrated, angered or antagonized state of mind ...
... no mo one oddah pidgin word for confused or spaced out??? ... I can't think of any ...
September 28th, 2009 at 12:22 pm
I always get double cheesebuger meal, large, extra cheese and root beer! that's from mickey d's. From Jacks I get either breakfast combo, with small curly and large root beer OR a #8 with curly, and root beer with buttermilk.......and maybe I add if it doesn't come that way I would lose it and my whole meal will be RUIN!
BL to add to the pidgin word of the day what about-Worms in your @ss? LMFAO.
September 28th, 2009 at 12:57 pm
Olive Garden Minestrone Soup...my husband tried to persuade me to try something diferent but I like the Minestrone soup.
September 28th, 2009 at 1:07 pm
BL,
I was "futless" watching the Niner game.
No, make that "double futless."
Enough said.
September 28th, 2009 at 1:26 pm
So I take it dat you got da numbah 11 - deluxe.
I got da "protein" one.
.......................
.......................
Dat used to me my "regulah" but once da grilled chicken came out went to dat but was manini so now got da 1/3# burgahs!

September 28th, 2009 at 2:16 pm
if mcd's: kids get mcdouble cheeseburger, fries, fruit punch. wife and i get mcchicken, no mayo and split a south west, diet coke. once in a while we'll get cones for the kids.
if bk: kids split a cheesburger shots big kids meal, we get a #4 meal no mayo, onion rings, diet coke, and an extra whopper jr. no mayo.
we frequent bravos (for u townies, its near what used to be circuit city) and just went last nite. keiki usually split a kids spaghetti w/ meat sauce, wife gets full chopped salad, and for me it's a toss up of the bravo burger, or ravioli. last nite was the burger. btw, its pretty big, and comes with a choice of pasta, pasta salad, or soup (I usually get the p. salad). oh yeah, don't forget complimentary garlic bread!
yeah we are pretty cheap! fortunately my kids are young and lite eaters. i usually act as garbage disposal for their left overs.
September 28th, 2009 at 2:34 pm
I like one numba 2 no onions large size with a coke.
2 plain hamburgers (for my big dog, yeah yeah he spoiled and no scold me cause if he sees my burger he going be all futless and try eat mine)
September 28th, 2009 at 2:57 pm
I try different stuff at Mickey Ds. I hardly ever order the same thing twice in a row.
BUT, at Palama Market lunch counter.....its BBQ Chix! All the time, everytime. Love that dish.
September 28th, 2009 at 3:15 pm
Weird thing. I don't care for barbeque, but I love the McRib.
I like to try different things, but like yo BL, get disappointed if not too good.
It's all about our comfort level.
September 28th, 2009 at 3:26 pm
Sorry to say haven't been to McD's, Jacks, Wendy's or BKs in a long time! Usually go to Zippy's for breakfast with wifey on Sunday's... either Veggie or Chili/Cheese omelette or Zip Min... =)
Want to try that McD 1/3 Angus pounder though... I liked Jack's Sirloin burger when it first came out...
September 28th, 2009 at 4:01 pm
Heh? You mean a cheeseburgah without da cheese or just cheese?
Fo' some reason I can only breakfast stuff in da morning no mattah if was 7am or 12:01am. Even if was 11:59pm my brain no like.
.............................
.............................
Should invent like one 12 sided dye dat you can write places you like to eat and then wenevah stuck, just roll da dye and weaevah da buggah land, das wea you going.
.........................
.........................
Someone had to buss out In-N-Out yeah?
........................
........................
Ho, you can pound (eat a lot) eh?!
Smart man.
..........................
..........................
We "creatures" like to call it consistency.
At least only one of you is easy.
.........................
.........................
I kinda do da samething.... I mean c'mon, who goes to a steakhouse and only orders salad.

..........................
..........................
All mean da same thing more or less.... das pidgin brah!
None I can tink of right now. Cookoo maluku?
........................
........................
DAMN! Now das living!
Large, extra cheese, buttermilk....... no dessert?
.........................
.........................
I found their soups to be too watery for me. Even their "hearty" soups were too liquidy but I only like hearty thick brothy soups anyways. *BL tinks watery chowder is gross*
...........................
...........................
I was even more futless wen my friends kept bringing it up, or watching on ESPN or seeing it on da front page of our paper.......
September 28th, 2009 at 4:12 pm

NKHEA..... waz happy to see everybody at da pah-tay
September 28th, 2009 at 6:02 pm
Hi everybody!
I don't go to FF too much but I guess I usually end up w/ a Cheeseburger Happy Meal. It's the easiest.
Shave Ice is always strawberry, unless it's Shimazu's then it's Melona Cream and Orange Cream. Kelvin always sez to try something else but I really luuurve those 2 flavas.
Hokkaido Ramen I always order ... ahem... Hokkaido Ramen. My friend ordered a combo that looked really good, maybe next time.
Jamba Juice is always Orange Dream Machine w/ immunity.
When my boss takes us out I always eat something I don't eat at home so it's usually beef. At home its always chicken or salmon and veggies. So eating out is my splurge.
September 28th, 2009 at 10:40 pm
I like to try different things when I go out to eat.
I'll gravitate towards certain items, like stuff with bacon.
Yeah, it can be hit-or-miss, but I usually don't regret trying new stuff, even if it's not that good. Maybe you feel schmall kine poho and futless, cause you wen waste money, but at least you know not to get it again.
My MIL is the complete opposite: she orders the exact same thing from certain places, and will not deviate. She might try a bite of food from me or my wife if it looks interesting to her, but usually she just will just stick to the same stuff over and over.
September 29th, 2009 at 5:32 am
Oops - Day late.
Don't eat much chain fast food other than a pretty regular Jack's milk shake. I will eat at those kind of places when I just need to eat NOW.
As far as always ordering the same thing is concerned - I have that problem with my favorite restaurants. The tough thing is that there always seems to be something else on the menu I'd like to try but I don't want to be disappointed and waste the visit.
The best is when I dine with someone with similar tastes and eating habits. Then we can each order something different and split and share!
Alan from Makiki
September 29th, 2009 at 5:43 am
Alan from Makiki: my sentiments exactly! I don't want to waste the visit cuz I don't eat out much. Not like I'll be going again next week. When we eat out w/ my boss, we all try to order something different from each other so we can "sample".
Good thing we're all close.
September 29th, 2009 at 6:41 am
McD- mcrib, anything off their $1 menu.
BK- chicken sandwich
Taco Bell- zesty chicken bowl
J-N-B- denver breakfast bowl
Any Chinese restaurant- anything with egg noodles
Aloha Kitchen- fried saimin
Mexican restaurant- beef chimichanga
Olive Garden- all you can eat pasta/salad
September 29th, 2009 at 7:06 am
Saimin and french fries at Zippy's
September 29th, 2009 at 7:55 am
At 8Fat I try any beers they have on the first beer (so you can really taste it), then Heineken after. Even if they don't have anything new, they know I want a non-heineken for the first one, so they always ask what I want. After the first one, the waitress alway comes up and says "Heineken?"
September 29th, 2009 at 9:14 am
Man, Da Wife and I haven't eaten there in choke long time! We go there wen she's in da mood for da chopped salad too but will venture into some kind of ravioli wen da mood strikes. Nevah know da burgah came with pasta.... maybe next time I change it up a bit..... but then again if I get da burgah it'll be da FIRST time I've evah done so at Bravo's.
And yeah, no can go there without pounding da garlic balls!
You too? I've been a garbage disposal all my life.... it's amazing I not 250#'s!!! btw, did you know dat da Pearlridge booklet, usually at da escalators, have a Bravo's coupon all da time! Even in da yellow pages get.
........................
........................
You one of those? Owners who feed their pets human food? Your dog surah is lucky.
I guess if I'm evah in da "doghouse" I going come ovah then.
........................
........................
Really? Das pretty good!
.........................
.........................
LOL! Cause it's not "real" - it's "parts". LOL j/k
True dat. If you not too "adventurous" to try.... you not going.
........................
........................
Oh man.... I haven't had a Zip Min in choke long time.
Da Angus burgah is pretty tasty and is comparable to da Sirloin burgah..... only cheaper.
........................
........................
But you only drink one kine beea.....
..........................
..........................
Me too! Das kinda like a given for me if it's on da company dime - I'll always try something different.... since I'm not paying and all.
.......................
.......................
Pork fat rules!
Das probably it.

.........................
.........................
Dat is definitely me wen we go to restaurants - no like "waste" da visit.
Das why I always ask Da Wife wat she getting so I no get da samething.
But sometimes backfire on me cause she eat da whole thing by herself.
........................
........................
Anybody know if we have dat hea?
Is dat like ham and onions? Why is it called "Denver"?
.......................
.......................
.........................
.........................
You must be their version of "Norm" (Cheers).
