I rigged up my folks house here in Ca. to make sure I scare the crap out of some kids tomorrow evening! I got the strobe lights, graveyard scene, cobwebs, spooky music, and, most importantly, the fog machine! I'm gonna make some kid require therapy as an adult after I'm through spooking them tomorrow :)

    BL,
You're so right, Halloween is the start of the holiday season. The days seem to go by faster after Halloween, is it because stores like Macy's will start decorating for Christmas and not wait for Thanksgiving like the old days (anybody been shopping lately, I haven't, so I'm just assuming that they are doing it). I wonder how many trick-or-treaters we're going to get this year ? Last year, Halloween was on a Friday and we only saw about 30 kids.
Well, here's a FGF joke (sorry no Halloween theme):

My friends recently retired. The wife always wanted to learn to play the piano, so my friend bought her a piano for her birthday. A few weeks later, I asked how she was doing with it. "Oh, we returned the piano." said my friend, "I persuaded her to switch to a clarinet instead."

"How come?" I asked. "Because," he answered, "with a clarinet, she can't sing."

    Happy Halloween, everyone !

-I had no idea they came in different colors. I always thought it was orange. Haha, guess you learn something new every day.

Have a safe and happy Halloween everyone!

  6. Kage:

    That costume is cool!

I am trying to find someplace to avoid trick or treaters tomorrow. Not that I am not in the spirit of the day, I just no like stay home and pass out candy.

  7. 9th Island Girl:

Happy FGF! Thanks for the joke, roach! We can always count on you.

  9. Bre:

Happy Halloween!! We decorated our house last weekend. We always end up with a few kids who are too scared to come to the door. My husband loves when that happens. He goes out to the sidewalk and gives them the candy.

I am not dressing up but my dog is going to be Tinker Bell.

Gotta send pics! If not of da house..... at least "Tinker Bell".

  11. David In Oregon:

Scott: You don't need to go through all that trouble to scare people. All you have to do is put a sign out front that says, "This house quarantined due to swine flu" That will keep anyone and everyone away, even after Halloween is over.

  12. M:

    Hello BL!

    We don't celebrate halloween. It's satans/devil holiday.

  13. M:

Happy Halloween to those who celebrate it! Be safe!

    Happy FGF!

  14. Kage:

BL - thanks for the suggestion. I may just go see a movie.

  15. Makiki:

    Happy FGF everyone!

Vog seems to have cleared, hope everyone has a great weekend. Not into celebrating Halloween but I may sneak over to Waiks to check out the all the lolos.

  17. BananaFysh:

    Happy FGF everybody!

I usually dress up for Halloween, but this year I'm not feeling it for some reason. Most of my co-workers don't dress up, so maybe their "Scrooge-like" behavior is rubbing off on me. :? I dunno, plus, inspiration didn't really hit me this year.

I not even going pass out candy this year. I live in a newer subdivision, and every year we've been getting more and more kids. Was reasonable at first, with about a hundred kids, but last year we had over 300! I KNOW no more that many kids who live in my area -- the parents are bringing them from around the island to my subdivision, because they think "all the rich people live there."

I have a friend who lives in an older part of the subdivision, and he said they get over 700 kids!!!! WWD!?!?!?

I no mind giving out candy to the keiki, cause I like seeing all the costumes, and I like making them happy. Plus I scare some of them, so I get my "treat" too  , but now it's getting to be a bit too much. Last year we spent over $100 on candy.

I'm assuming there will be more kids this year. No can.

Quite a few of my neighbors make it a point to not be around on Halloween night, because of the expense of buying all that candy.

I dunno, we'll see how I feel next year -- I might hand out candy then. One bright spot is that most of the kids say "Thank you!" :D

    Get hope for them! ;)

  18. Scott:

Halloween is actually a pagan (old...old....waaaay before Christ non-denominational) holiday whereby folks took this day to communicate with the dead (or so they thought). Of course, modern Halloween is easily confused for a Devil/Satan holiday, but that doesn't really extend beyond the costumes, and some freaks interpretation of October 31.
Sorry, I'm kinda a Halloween buff and I like to set the record straight, with all due respect to my fellow Kwonics/Lanceformers :)

  19. Rosette:

good thing we get around fifty kids..more fun I don't get broke....we decorate our house and try to compete across the street with there decoration..HOW IMMATURE...funny! one tiem I almost froze my finger with those stupid fog machien ..my husband idea ...cold october day but we had fun acting like five year old kids.!My hsubnad has his skull decpration I have my pumpkin and angel..we mix that all up in the house so it is not to spooky.! OH yes THE MUSIC TOO..spooky music funny ....we are kids at heart.

  20. Rosette:

our streets have sidewalk so easy to walk and the houses are not too far and no long driveway to get candy so it is more enjoyable for the kids.

  21. Rosette:

I hate going into the new development TOO LONG DRIVEWAY and they give sh!*#y candy ...you think they are rich..CHEAP RICH ..or soem idot give can drinks ..who iwll carry that heavy thign goo dhtign my husband can lift four bags of pillow cases full of candies...funny....so if my son is taking my youngest I told him to bring a cart which I pick up from someone garbage..the thing is made of steel....OMG FUNNY...
