And da countdown is on......
Ready or not, a new year is about to begin and whether you're prepared for it - no mattah cause da clock ain't stoppin'!
Wat do you do to prepare for New Year's? Are you a hoster or a guest? Do you get ahi? Do you get a kadomatsu? Pound mochi? Pop firecrackahs? Go out to a bar, club or event?
Me? I'm a homey kind of guy - love to host pah-tay's but it's been a grand tradition for as long as I can remembah dat even while "most people" spend it with their ohana, for some reason my friends and I have always spent da eve together and da New Year Day with ohana. It's da strangest thing but all our ohana has always "understood" it. While my friends may have to show face earlier in da night with their respective ohana, da eve belongs to us. Pretty cool I think.
We always potluck. In fact, right at this moment (1:39am) I just finished making anoddah small batch of kim chee and wasabi potato salad and my knees are all swollen from standing for da past six hours. It doesn't bother me none as isn't dat wat it's all about? Doing anything for friends.
Out of curiosity, how many of you make New Year resolutions? How many of you have actually kept them for da year?
Well not hea Wassap Wit Dat! - das not how we roll. We make 'un'resolutions. You heard right. How many times have resolutions been broken within days, hours, minutes of making 'em? Resolutions are empty promises so why make them? 'Un'resolutinos are "promsises" NOT to. It's easier to keep and chances are it'll last longer thand da real thing.
An 'un'resolution can be about anything so in da spirit of trying to jack up some comments, list yours! I know dis can probably go on forevah but who knows who's in today so keep let's keep it going for as long as we can.
Da next time I'll see you will be in 2010 so pah-tay hard and pah-tay safe!
Have a great New Years to all Da Hui of WWD!.... yeah, you Lurkahs too.
