Mumblin' Monday

January 25th, 2010
By

A new work week = 120 hours and counting.

  :???:

Mumblin' Monday is born.

Just some randomness from the weekend wea we can share our mo'olelo's and manao's on da past week/weekend happenings.

  • Just heard on KSSK radio dis morning dat GM hired a new CEO, Ed Whitacre who was quoted as saying "I don't know anything about cars" and that he had no plans of moving from his home in Texas to Detroit, where GM headquarters is at.

*Cherry job yeah? No need know nothing, no need move AND going get paid six figures! Wea do I sign up?

  • Bombing.... no, not da terriost kine, da lolo kine. Illegal at most, if not all, streets and roads but now it's being "glorified" by YouTube users on/about our local roads such as da evah curvy, gnarly, winding road down Tantalus.  Check out the article by our Michael Tsai, "Hawaii Thrillseekers a YouTube Hit".

*If it was a sanctioned race or done legally, no problem.... but it's not. Just wait until someone gets hurt badly and/or destroys property - then we'll see some real action.

  • And how 'bout them Saints! They ain't da "Ain'ts" no mo'! Congrats to a city really needing something to look forward to!*I guess da curse of celebrity stars dating players is broken but then again, we wouldn't even have heard of da Kardashians if they nevah have their own reality show huh?

*btw, I did predict the Saints and Colts to be in da Super Bowl at da start of da playoffs. Now if you asked me to pick da winnah...... you heard it hea' first...... gotta back da NFC and go with dem Saints and da "Who Dat Nation"!

Thoughts? Mo'olelo's? Stumblin' grumblin' mumblin'?

    First?

I didn't want to get out of bed this morning, but the day's shaping up to be okay. I hope I didn't jinx myself! ;-)

  2. rayboyjr:

    :D :D :D :D :D Good Morning Everyone!!! :D :D :D :D :D

... hey Braddah Lance ... actually feelin' pretty good this morning ... even though it's a Monday ...

... love the Super Bowl matchup ... I would have preferred the Vikings ... but the Saints are fine too ... I just didn't want the Jets in the SB ... nothing wrong with the Jets, just don't like their style of play ... it looks promising to be an exciting matchup ...

... the only thing that is kind of a damper ... it's still VOGGY ... makes it look like the weather is not that nice ... when it's actually really really nice ... hope it's not wreaking havoc on those with breathing problems or allergies though ...

    ... Have a Good Week Everyone!!! ...

  3. Ocean Lover:

    Morning BL and everyone else.........

A few years ago I saw this "dude" (I understand that's what younger guys are called) ;-) riding a skateboard down Ward Avenue from the top of Ward Avenue! This is coming down the hill on Ward above the freeway overpass! I saw him come down a couple of blocks as I was heading up Ward where it intersects with Prospect St.

THAT DUDE..............is nuts. HOW do you slow down if a car suddenly comes into your path? Making "Fred Flinstone" ain't gonna cut it.............

    OL

  4. 2B:

Just no fix da roads, and no can "bomb" with potholes yah?

And you thought crossing the street was a hazard...

Congrats to the Saints. I take um plus da points. If I was a betting guy and in Vegas of course.

  5. jaydee:

    The opening line is Colts +5, over/under 55 1/2.

I like the Saints and the points. I think they're long overdue for a Superbowl victory!

  6. buddahbelly:

    Aloha All!!
    I'm witchu - go Saints

  7. M:

    Good morning BL!

I don't care who wins the super bowl as long as it's an exciting game to the very end.

  8. Bre:

It's Monday, nuf said. This weekend was not too great. It was my birthday which puts me in a bad mood (too many candles) which lasted from Friday through Sunday, and still lingering today. It finally stopped raining Sat in CA but is going to start again tomorrow. Can't blog too much anymore. Work is keeping a closer eye on computer use. :(

I hope everyone else has a better week.

  9. Scott:

That GM CEO's gonna get paid a lot more than 6 figures! (most of it tax payers money, btw)

Great game last night. Favre made a career mistake with that interception. I'm sure he's finished.

    I'm going with the Saints.

  10. NKHEA:

Howzit BL and da rest of you bugga's

Couple years back when we used to live on Sierra Dr. almost everynight would have guys riding down da hill at 10:00 pm or latta WWD :x I was gettin so irritated I use to throw gravel on the road everynight

    NKHEA..... out

    BL-

Not entirely true about the Kardashians... Kim, Kortney and Khloe Kardashian are the daughters of famed OJ lawyer Robert Kardashian... buggah got paid BIIIIG bucks to be OJ's lawyer... so Robert Kardashian was the first "reality" TV star of the Kardashian family... even before Kim and Ray-J made the "video" and Kim ended up dating Reggie Bush... and whatevers else the Kardashian girls are doing...

  12. B:

nuttin against da saints but I goin wit da colts. Peyton wuz pretty good yesterday. wat da heck wuz Bret thinkin wen he wen unload dat pass.

    Well dat's actually

buggah got paid BIIIIG bucks to be OJ's lawyer... so Robert Kardashian was the first "reality" TV star of the Kardashian family But dat's because it was celebrity status by association. Nobody would have heard - or cared - who da Kardashians are if it wasn't for da trial. They would have not been "famous" and gone doing their own show too if they didn't have anoddah "famous" person in da show like their stepfather. It's kinda like Paris Hilton - you only know/heard of her because of her family.... although she does publicly do idiotic things to catch da lime light.

Peyton is just being Peyton. Da guy is a machine on da field and wen his receivers are in synch with him? It's gonna be a long game for their opponents. It's gonna be a good one come Feb.7th!

an so... who get da right of way? one runna/jogger or one walker?

Uncool dat kine! I no can understand why people no can walk/run on their "half" of da sidewalk either. And yeah, sometimes I "prepare" for da shoulder bump too.

  14. Michael:

Are they changing Wednesday as the middle of the week to Tuesday since we have an everlasting, see no end, till I die, Furlough Friday, which shortens the week and make the weekend longer?

I mumble everyday since getting braces. :)

  15. 9th Island Girl:

    Happy belated birthday, Bre!

My husband calls Brett Favre my "boyfriend" so of course I was cheering for the Vikings, but I'm happy for the Saints. I always cheer for the underdog at the Super Bowl.

  16. hemajang:

@B, yeah, why should you move to the side? I recall when running in Seattle's Green Lake loop, had markings on the path designated for bicyclist and walkers/runners and split in middle so you stay on the right side...maybe they should do dat at Obama Island.

Almost called in sick today from overdoing it on Sunday, running early morning on a tough (for me) cross country route, then 3 sets of tennis and screen printing about 90 shirts in the afternoon...pooped! Can't complain though, still alive. Was mostly listening to the games on radio and if had one good play would go in and check the replay. TV broadcast was slightly delayed so had plenty time to watch replay. Australian Open is also on ...anybody watching dat? Tennis mostly dominated by Europeans so not much interest by Americans, unless you like the Williams sistahs. Venus has dis interesting outfit that she designed ...one skirt with slits on the side and skin matching tights so when skirt flies up she looks like she butt naked, not a good look.

  17. 2B:

If you're a Vikings fan, which is the lesser of two evils, Farve or Tavares?
Not sure if Tavares or any of their other QBs could have gotten them into the playoffs much less NFC Champ game.

The real bonehead was that 12th player in the huddle. If not for the 5 yd penalty, they may have just run it hey diddle diddle right up the middle to set up a long FG.

  18. KAN:

Happy late birthday, Bre! Things gotta get better from now, right? At least you get another year before you have to think of your birthday again.

  19. 808 Dad:

    Hey Lance,
Random weekend stuff. For the first time I got to bodysurf at Sunset. There is a new sandbar formed just 20ft from shore. The break outside of the sandbar was awesome. It was a solid 2-3 with some 4ft sets. One of my friends went down early in the morning and gave me call to head down. Brought the whole family and had a blast on the sandbar. Of course after gotta go to Ted’s Bakery for a snack. Da body sure is sore.

Well "technically" speaking, there is is no midweek cause get an even amount of days.

I mumble everyday since getting braces.

    Couldn't get invisiline (sp?)?

True dat but then again, besides a select few, wat oddah QB has "complete" control ovah their offense? Hmmm, two pop in my mind.... Manning and Brees.... hmmm.... who's in da SuperBowl? hmmm

The real bonehead was that 12th player in the huddle. If not for the 5 yd penalty, they may have just run it hey diddle diddle right up the middle to set up a long FG.

Let's not fo'get da turnovahs! Boy was da a sloppy game for da Vikes! It was momentum killahs at it's worst. They even "benched" AP for a series. Vikes almost outgained da Saints 2 to 1 in offense.

I haven't surfed in quite some time cause da South side has been dismal which is typical dis time of year.

Glad you got to jump in da watah - it was nice out yesterday too! No shave ice? Ok, ice shaved for all da neighbor island peeps.

  21. Bre:

Thanks for the b-day wishes BL, 9th Island Girl and Kan. Kan is right, at least I don't have to think about it for another year!

  22. sally:

Hi Everybody! BL, is this kind of like a free for all? K-den.
Okay gang go with me on this one, I honestly believe we all agree on my story cuz we's all guud people here.

I perchanced upon a woman this weekend, didn't know who she was and her name (which she so up he nosedly told me THREE times) meant nothing to me. Yet, I was polite and full of Aloha and smiled while she continued to talk to me and treat me like a squirrelly little nobody, not one of her pretty people. In any normal situation I would turn and walk away and stay the he!! away from her but this was not a normal situation. I had an obligation.

Whenever she saw her peeps she would turn on the fake and be all "Oh HI HONEY! smooch smooch" Gag me. *bwack*!!!

Oh believe me I had words in my head that could shame a sailor. But I contained myself.

So my message is this. EVERYBODY has a story. EVERYBODY deserves to be treated with respect and dignity. (except rapists, murderers and people who are unkind to animals) This nobody of a woman (I still don't know who the ... heck ... she is/was) showed her ugly heart and I guess it has been so long since I've had this kind of experience that it just threw me. I actually feel sorry for her, to be of her own opinion that she is a somebody.

    Mean people suck.
Thanks BL, I feel better now. And thank you for having the best hearted peeps in the Triad.
Yayyy for us! Me pau be sailor now. : )

  23. sally:

Okay... I read my comment and the end didn't seem to come out right.
"...the best hearted peeps in the Triad." was not to say the best OF the Triad. It's we in the Triad are da best. But we all the same people.

oy, neva mind. I'm sure you guys know what I'm saying. I hope so. Cuz I'm starting to confuse myself.

  24. KAN:

@Sally: my dad always reminds me that Hawai`i is a small place and you can't afford to tick anybody off - they might know your friend's dad's uncle's co-worker. And even if they don't know your aunty's best friend's sister's nephew, karma is a nasty female dog (I don't wanna use naughty words here and get BL into trouble).

I pau and off my soapbox now. G'night.

  25. sally:

KAN: Smart man, your dad, and he taught his daughter well. Good night.

  26. Alohikea:

Slept all day today and just woke up at 11pm. Of course I worked Sunday night from 7p to 730a and then ate and went to the gym for 2 hours, so you know. The life of a night-shifter! Although it's almost midnight, I am wide awake and I have to meet the p trainer at the gym at 9am. Crap. Really didn't watch the game-more of a college football fan myself.

  27. Coconut Willy:

I heard that same story on KSSK. That's a head scratcher. Shouldn't you have a clue on what your company does?

  28. aokami:

Installed windows this entire weekend, came down home stretch only to find that my window covering was broken. Off to Home Depot to get another one cut to size to find that it was broken too. Thankfully, found out before Ieft the store the 2nd time.
