You hea' dat ALLLLL da time, "market".
It could be for a new/used car, a job interview, dating scene or even da real grocery store market but it's one of those phrases dat we use for practically any kine.
Buying a new/used car - "So you're in da market huh? New or used?"
A job interview - "Da market is so tough out there!"
Dating scene - "You're back on da market?!"
Grocery store - "Babe, you went market today?"
Da last time I was in da "market" for a new truck was back in '03, motorcycle in '06, a girlfriend in....... *cricket noises*......... I'll get back to you on dat one.
Wen was da last time you were in da "market"?
btw, stay tuned for tomorrow's post..... trust me, you'll either love it or piss on it.

Wassup Wit Dat!

FIRST on the market
April 26th, 2010 at 9:00 am
Almost always in "da market" looking and researching to buy stuff. Right now, checking out blu-ray players, don't have one and son recommending Play Station 3 but I'm thinking Panasonic BMP BD85. I'm also in "da market" for tenting da house for termite treatment...any suggestions out there?
Haven't been in "da market" for gf since late 60's and working at same job since 1974 so those marketing skills are rusty and long forgotten.

Wow, when was the last time I was FIRST. Guess you could say I was in the market to be FIRST
Car/Truck: Done since I got my truck in 2003. Wait, my son starting to drive. Might be in the market for body work services
Bike: Wishing my WIFE is in the market to get me a new one
Job: Done, been here for 31 years. I hope to be in the Retirment Market one day
Dating: Um married for 28 years. I'm way outside that market (yes dear)
Grocery Store: Only market I go to now-a days

Ever notice that when people are "on the market" with respect to the dating scene they TAKE CARE OF THEMSELVES? They do that since they're "hunting".
The ones that wear the puka t-shirt, old shorts, bus up slippahs and NO KEA.......they are the married ones.
OL............just realized he described himself

For me, "market" now is Times and Foodland. Really not looking to buy or sell anything of significance at this time.
April 26th, 2010 at 9:26 am
@OL: made me laugh!!!
I'm in the market now for a new bed. Our old one is all haddit. I've heard good things about Tempur-Pedic beds and about the gel beds that burn victims use.

Aloha All,
Trying to save kala, I put off buying a new laptop and television. Murphy's law strikes again - in one week both of them gave up the ghost. Now I'm in the market for two pricey electronic items at one time, WWD!

Howzit BL!
My son just got his drivers license this past friday so we maybe in the market for some new wheels sometime soon.

@KAN - When we were shopping for a new bed, we considered the Tempur-Pedic too, but we heard that the bed gets warm in Hawaii's climate. But for colder regions, it works well.

The last time was for a new car. Made use of my Costco membership and purchased my car from Honda Windward. I keep my cars for 10 years so hopefully I'll be around to buy another, when I do, I know where I'll be buying from.

You da kine people da "market" enjoys.
I'd say da PS3 too but only if you evah tinking about playing games. It's like a mini-computah too to surf da web and everything but if only Blue-ray is wat you want, then no sense.... although they cost about da same.
Don't know anyone personally but I'd say call a few real estate agents and find out who they use frequently. I'd also check da BBB to make surah no mo' recent complaints either.

Evah since WWD! has been slow.
Keep wishing.
Good one!
Smart one!
Hungry one.

Yowzas! At least laptop prices have gone down wea you can get a pretty "powerful" one at about $800 and less depending on your screen size. If you can, try check out da 3D tv's..... they are totally cool! Although if you watch it for long periods of time your eyeballs get all out of whack.

E Komo Mai to WWD! Elapo! I'm glad to found WWD! and hope you'll stick around.
I always wondered about da Costco/Sam's memebership program and if da prices are really bettah than haggling or online or blue book.

April 26th, 2010 at 2:49 pm
I, too, thought you were referring to the dating scene when I first saw the title. Then again, I thought you, BL, was making all scebbe. The wife would definitely beat you down if you ever let all your uncles and aunties down. Nah, you too good to do that! The ones who are looking for love, but somehow can't find it, make the most noise marketing for it. Hehe!

I'm always on the internet searching for bargains. Fat wallet, and anandtech hot deals are good places to browse for heads up on good bargains.
The key to shopping online for me is the shipping cost. Some online retailers have free shipping --- Amazon is one -- sometimes with free super saver shipping.
@hemajang some of the the new blue ray players have internet connectivity. All you have to do is hook up a ethernet cable or set up wireless and your hooked up to the net. This is going to also be built into some sets
You can view concerts, netflix, utube, and more on your big screen tv. Sony sets and blue ray players have the most content since they own movies and music.

KAN: your bed all haddit? bhahaha good eh, that word? Useful in all scenarios.
I'm in the market for a for a new Mac. Until money falls out of the sky and into my purse, I'll settle for being in the market for any computer that works.
I guess being single, I could be "on the market" (sounds like Rodney's Meat Market) but my track record is so freakin' hellish and I don't feel like going thru another nightmare anytime soon. I'm having too much fun right now.
April 26th, 2010 at 6:19 pm
@91boz, yeah that Panasonic BD85 has wireless internet connectivity and I already subscribe to Netflix. I have some movies on my hard drive so I'm hoping can play on the BD85 without having to burn on to a dvd. Shopping on Amazon is great...no tax and shipping free if item qualifies for Super Saver shipping.

Word of caution, you have to contact Costco or Sam's Club before you go down to the dealer. There is only one person at the dealers authorized to give you the discounted price. At Honda Windward, the sticker comes off the car you're interested in so you know what the selling price is. The sales person will tell you what the Costco member price is. The good news is that you can still request an additional discount before it's finally approved. For about $60 more monthly compared to my '94 Honda, I ended up with LX compared to DX model. Once you deal with Honda Windward, it really like comparing apples to oranges.
