I Miss.........
By Braddah Lance
Mahalos to all who've been so dedicated in checking back to WWD! periodically. I sincerely do appreciate it and apologize again for delayed posts and replies. I barely have time to breathe and when I do it's to sleep.
Today late at work during a lull, I texted Da Wife,
"I want to go home.... I miss home."
It's not that I was bored by any means as the pace at work is feverishly unrelenting but it was just one of those days that you "feel" something.
I guess I miss going on the computer and looking for posts by faithful readers of WWD!.
Or miss going to the fridge and grabbing a snack anytime I like. I most definitely miss my daughter and those small moments wea she just has dis glowing smile dat you can't help but smile back ear to ear no mattah how rotten of a time you're having.
Then that got me thinking what else have I missed that I haven't done in choke long time......
I miss body surfing (haven't touched da watah since being laid off)
I miss spending half da day wit Da Wife at "our beach" wit a full sub from Storto's
I miss being skinny
So go out dis weekend, do wat you haven't done in awhile and enjoy yourself. Don't do something you know you'll do soon or do occasionally, go out and get dat "feeling" back whether it's an activity or a meal. Get a little zen into your life and I guarantee you'll have a Feel Good Friday dat lasts longah then one day.
Post wat you miss below and revisit WWD! to remind yourself dat you said you'd do it!
I most definitely get chance to hit up two of da things above......

Wassup Wit Dat!

Really? You haven't been in da watah? Wow.
You know what I've been doing a lot of that I haven't done in the past several (yes, SEVERAL) years? Cooking.
Stop laughing. Stop rolling your eyeballs.
I recently moved to a bigger apt with a kitchen that I can actually move around in and counter space that I can prep food on instead of balancing a cutting board on the edge of the sink.
I have a real kitchen and it thrills me. So yah, I've been cooking.
And it feels guuuud!

I miss the carefree days of my youth.
I miss hanging out with old friends
I miss not worring about my health.
I miss Chicken Alice.
Even though I miss a lot, I look forward to the future.

BL,
I miss waking up without back pains.
I miss having no one dependent on me.
I miss my dog being young.
I miss being truly happy.
One thing that I will not miss is going to work after I retire (soon).
September 30th, 2011 at 9:04 pm
For me, I miss going for drinks and pupus on Fridays after work.
I miss having the energy to work out until the endorphins take over -- the natural high.
I miss the free time to soak up the rays and fresh air outdoors.
But I like life just the way things are.

I really miss The Honolulu Advertiser, people and newspaper.....

Howzit Lance! I didn't know the blog was back. Actually, I just happen to stumble onto this. I rarely have the time now to go on and check the blogs. Really nice to see you back though. Guess I need to go back and see what's happened over time. I still recall the old days of the "triad."

Urrggh, can't resist posting this one I saw a while ago:
Of all the things I've ever lost, I miss my mind the most!
September 30th, 2011 at 11:41 pm
OK, I got it out of my system; now I feel better.
September 30th, 2011 at 11:51 pm
Having come from the Philly region (Jersey side of the Delaware), I miss some of the foods from that area: Jersey tomatoes, real South Philly pizza and cheese steaks, Tastykakes, Wawa subs (I know somebody's gonna ask about that one - tell ya later) or anything Wawa, scrapple. I know I'll think of more later.
But the thing I miss the most is being able to drive 100 miles and be in Hershey for MHS Homecoming. I value my 'brothers' from school, and it

Oops. I value my 'brothers' from school, and it will be a few years until I can afford to go back, hopefully for my 50th year reunion.

While I love being home for my boys, I miss working. I miss having adult interaction and feeling like I'm competent at something. I miss taking naps whenever I want, and I miss the carefree way you feel when you are single and have no one else to support financially (I recently had a single friend visit and marveled at how much money she spent while I watched every penny). I also miss having really good friends nearby. Phone calls and occasional visits just don't cut it. I miss Hawaii and being able to take in the vast ocean every day.
I love my family and wouldn't give them up for anything, even for the things I miss!

Step out da furo with steam coming off my skinny butt, get into your pajamas, go watch Ozzie and Harriet on our small b&w tv, then go sleep, ready for next day to go play...ahhh, miss those days.

You should jus' go and walk barefoot in da sand even if jus' for five minutes. You'll definitely be glad you did.

October 2nd, 2011 at 7:39 am
Again, I have to agree with hawaii obsessed and say
I miss being skinny...and I miss those days when I could eat
as much candy and cookies and carbs as I wanted to
without worrying about my high triglycerides.
I miss my daughter being young and small...now she's a
giant. Every year I ask her, ” Do you want to go to
Sesame Street live?” She's 13, so, NO!
October 3rd, 2011 at 11:15 am

October 3rd, 2011 at 11:52 am
I miss my dad who passed away last year. I miss my aunt who also passed away last year. I miss my mother in law who passed away this year. I miss both my mom and grandmother who are still with us, so I'm going to call them right now. Gotta make feel good friday last as long as possible...
October 3rd, 2011 at 12:03 pm
@Ankles Ah yes, those crisp fall mornings on the east coast where the dew of summer has now become something that has to be scraped off your windshield before you can drive your car. Or the once warm rain has now become cold and raw, chilling you to the bone if you don't move fast enough between car and house, office, mall, whatevahs
That I DON'T miss!
Mo' bettah I stay Hawai'i.
October 3rd, 2011 at 12:08 pm
But don't get me wrong, the fall colors can be pretty to see, especially in the Pocono or Allegheny mountains, or anywhere in the northeast. Just wear plenny warm clothing, yeah!
October 3rd, 2011 at 12:10 pm

You know, if there's one thing Hawai'i could really use is a change of colors to really appreciate da beauty of nature. Too bad da only colors dat come in Hawai'i is wet and dry. Good luck on da rehab!
.
.
