Customer service seems to be a thing of the past. Well, at least it sure seems that way up here. I remember walking into Sears or just about any other retailer (large or small) and being asked if I needed any assistance -- or at least greeted. Now, it seems I have to look for the product then hunt down an employee/sales associate/whatever. At that point they usually do not know much about the product. Worst part is when they tell me to read the descriptions on the box because they do not know much, if anything, about the product. Obviously, they are there just to ring up the sale and keep an eye on the merchandise so it does not magically sprout legs or wings.
Naturally, there are businesses where customer service is paramount. Disney comes to mind, as well as a few restaurants. But then, I sometimes wonder if I get the service at the restaurants because the kids used to be in my classes.
Check out the Customer Service contest for SkillsUSA. Or for DECA or FBLA. Yeah, I know. High school programs?!?! Yup. The kids learn how to secure a job, how to keep it, and what customer service is all about. Of course, I sure hope they employ those skills once they leave! Heck, I sure hope they can just be employed!!!
So what is the role of the customer in customer service? Being reasonable is important. More and more we are seeing folks who have a sense of entitlement. Been in a high school class lately? Heck, the issue is even showing up at the elementary schools. Of course those folks have always been there. Just seems there were more of us than there were of them.
Remember the post on the truck that cut you off? More of that behavior than before.
you did...I wen go stay look, buggah lance. Going take your little one fo trick or treat? You bettah have kimchi wen I come your house on Halloween in my changwang mask. Have a nice weekend all...
And for the record, although the name, @changwang sounds like a Pake, he better not be one. The buggah was probably high on hot kim chee with all that firepower spewing out. Excellent topic and outrageous drama, Lance-a-roni... LOL!
Hey BL......I had one "epiphany" and since your blog is "WWD", let everyone give a WWD moment from THEIR EXPERIENCE so that they can vent and no hold all dat tension inside dem......kinda like virtual therapy.
Dey can talk about peons.....aloha spirit.....locals....rubbah slippahs wit pukas.....as long as they DON'T ATTACK the writer.
OL...............too much stress in da world....gotta release um sometimes
I think it's quite entertaining to see how BL's opinion can drive so many emotions. Some of us gotta lighten up, it's only an opinion, just like our comments are opinions. Don't mean that one is right and the other is wrong. To me, it's BOTH right cuz that's our belief. How can I tell someone they're wrong when they don't think so?
Confused yet?
Think I'm wrong?
'as okay, cuz it's only my opinion.
And to you Da Quote of Da Day............ I'll bet living in a nudist colony takes all the fun out of Halloween. ~Author Unknown
Worst part is when they tell me to read the descriptions on the box because they do not know much, if anything, about the product.
Some of da CSR's I run into read da box and tell me verbatim wat da box says....... uh, I could have done dat myself. At least if s/he just said they didn't know anything about it, I'd be fine with dat.

Me too! It sounds like a good program to teach the kids about having some pride in what they do.
