Happy 3rd of July?

July 3rd, 2012
By Braddah Lance

Can you believe it? Even the 4th of July has an early start just like Christmas!

Wassup Wit Dat!

Tonight, Aloha Tower has it's July 4th celebration and if I recall - correct me if I'm wrong - they've done it on the 3rd for as long as I can remember... which my memory doesn't go so far back.

I'm surah it's cause they don't want to rain (compete) on da oddah major fireworks like the Ala Moana/Magic Island show or da infamous "let's ask for donations every year cause da community wants it but the community doesn't want to pay for it cause we're Kailua" show. I'm not surah if Pearl Harbor does one or not but I'm kinda surprised no major military installation puts on a show for their own servicemen/women since it is Independence Day.

At least dis way Aloha Tower - which has been struggling to gain strong local interest - can get a jump on getting people to stop by and not having to choose which show to go to. We all know it's a marketing ploy but heck, if Christmas can do it, why can't 4th of July? We might as well do it for EVERY holiday right?

Would you mind having two holidays instead of one? We'd have the "real" one and a "pre" one. Pre-Labor Day, Pre-Thanksgiving, Pre-Christmas.... wait, we already got dat starting after Halloween.

In any case, Da Wife, Da Baby and I are suckahs I guess cause we're going to try and stop by Aloha Tower tonight to catch da show - which we've nevah done before - but thought it would be exciting for Da Baby to see fireworks.... or be traumatized by 'em. Either way it'll be an experience for her.

We used to have a 4th of July bbq tradition at home with all our friends but being dat it's in da middle of da work week makes it a little less "fun" to let loose. Plus no mo' firecrackahs so even moreso no fun.

Wat are your plans for the da 4th? Or da 3rd? Do you have any 4th of July traditions? Are you planning to pop firecrackahs or catch a show? Or are you just glad it's a holiday and you no need work?

Hi BL, Long time no post on hea! :) We live next to a large lake, and they usually have fireworks over the bridge crossing the lake. We don't usually go because we still have little ones at home. I doubt my kids will make it to 9:30 or 10 at night. As far as other 4th of July activities, nothing much is planned. Just some good family time since my hubby just came off of 7 straight days of work. Today is one of his days off and we spent the morning swimming at the community pool. Making some Korean bbq meat for dinner...yum! Tomorrow, not sure yet. Take care and have fun!

    Good Morning.

Scholfield puts on a great all day event every year. It is on the 41st annual 4th of July Celebration this year.

I know lots of people that do Christmas Eve with his family, then Christmas Day with her family. Just like two holidays. :)

Took off today for medical issues and take puppy to vet to put in micro chip. Tomorrow going to son's condo by McKinley HS for bbq and watch a movie at condo's theatre room. No 4th of July tradition, just annodah day off. I did go to Schofield's fireworks before when kids were young.
