MLC Inquiry
By Braddah Lance
Just out of curiosity............
Do you still use a land line at home?
Do you still own/use a tv with a tube instead of LCD, LED, OLED, Plasma?
Do you still have a DVD player instead of blu-ray?
Or *gulp* VHS or even Betamax?? (WWD!)
Have you tried making the switch from paper and plastic to reuseable tote bags?
Are you still running Windows 98?
Do you still use da table with the metal flip out legs wea you actually sit down on da ground to eat?
Wat else kine old school things - dat still work - do you have dat has been "advanced"? Have you given in or will you stick wit it till da buggah die? Are you one of those who fight change or go wit da flow? Do you need to go out and get da newest, baddest, coolest product out there?
Or are you just an old fut?
Sorry Uncle Rod fo' hijacking an MLC type of topic.
btw, if you one old fut anyways, check out his Midlife Crisis Blog (click hea for da link) wea they only talk about..... old stuff. ![]()

No land line for 12 years -- makes it so much nicer when those collectors cannot interrupt my dinner.
Still get DVD player and even upgraded to a DVR a few years ago. Still have two VHS machines that work!
Table with fold out legs still going strong - all four of them. How can improve them?
Just updated to Vista. Nah, came with laptop and too expensive (lazy) to upgrade.
Staying away from resuable bags -- can catch e. coli if the bags are not washed everytime they are used.
Two picture tube TV's in the house. They are still alive and kicking! At least that old console set died but it sure makes a nice table (without foldable legs).
What counts as old school if the user is old to begin with? How about CD and records?

No land line for 10 and a half years.
DVD/VHS player for old tapes.
flat screen tv
Still using plastic bags but always recycle.
Still use CDs.
We don't like to upgrade until things break.

My service is Verizon and for years thought I HAD to keep my landline until I found out a few yrs ago that I could request "stand-alone" internet service. My ph # is kept as I.D. I know, late learner.
Okay, you know this one already... I don't even have TV/cable for 8yrs now. Watch everything online. If it's not there, I don't need to watch it. And then there's always my brother's house lol.
Until the switch becomes law, I will ask for plastic to reuse at home. Only at Longs, I use a reusable bag cuz I have the GreenBag Tag.
No Windows anything... mac, baby!
I do still have a dumbphone, which my daughter painfully watches as I attempt text msging. I am deeees close to making the leap to iPhone.

Get one table we use for the kids at partytime.
Had a PS2 till recently bought a PS3. The graphics is sooo much better I don't know what took me so long.

... hey Braddah Lance ... MLC??? ... I'm pretty sure I'm full-on MLC, but still in denial ... I remember some of the late 70's ... but 80's qualify as MLC already, right??? ... I think Uncle Rodney and most of his blog is just a little too far back for me still ... so I'm not that generation's MLC ... I guess I'm the new MLC ...
... haha, MLC is an undeniable fact of life ...
... Have Good One Everyone!!! ...

Howzit BL!
All of the above.
July 5th, 2012 at 9:59 am
Do you still use a land line at home? Yeah, not sure why. Mostly as backup if all of our cellphones fail. As if that's going to happen
Do you still own/use a tv with a tube instead of LCD, LED, OLED, Plasma? No tubes anymore. The new screens are just to nice not to have one.
Do you still have a DVD player instead of blu-ray? Or *gulp* VHS or even Betamax?? (WWD!) Haha, I still have the DVD/VHS combo. Still works, but I don't ever really use it. It props up my Oceanic Digital box.
Have you tried making the switch from paper and plastic to reuseable tote bags?NO! For some odd reason, I would feel really old carry around one of those tote bags. It just looks old fashioned. Gotta update it a little. Make it look cool.
Are you still running Windows 98?Are you kidding? You'll also probably be running all old programs like Office 98. No can upgrade. And not really surfing the net. 'Cause it would be so fricken slow, if you can access some sites at all.
Do you still use da table with the metal flip out legs wea you actually sit down on da ground to eat?Isn't this an asian thing? 'Cause I have many friends who use this type of table. Maybe not the flip out legs, but short small tables to eat on.
Wat else kine old school things - dat still work - do you have dat has been "advanced"? Have you given in or will you stick wit it till da buggah die? Are you one of those who fight change or go wit da flow? Do you need to go out and get da newest, baddest, coolest product out there?Kinda new old school, but I'm still using a damn Razr flip phone. Mostly because I'm too lazy to get a new smartphone. Texting is driving me crazy, though.
Or are you just an old fut? Eh, how you knew?

All 4 lcd and led, while still have land line plus prepaid cell @ $100 each time you run out. Only cd, got rid of home vhs tapes taken of trips, Europe and Japan, after converting at COSCO. Have tote bags in trunk, but keep accepting plastic until run out in California. XP professional and vista on laptops, waiting for Windows 8 laptop for wife, although xp is better than vista. Live condo, no need for collaspable since live in condo in retirement community. Land line will be only dinosaur we will be keeping. Have retina display 32GB iPad and looking to get Windows tablet for wife.

As a certified MLCer, I take no offense from young'ens making fun of old fut's and their old fut ways...only because you will be just like us...one day. We just mo mellow with age, less WWD moments and still enjoy the latest technology. I think having kids and grand kids will keep you on your toes. They will show you what is cool and how it can work for you. Heck 7th graders think anyone out of high school is old fut.
To answer your questions...no landline, decade old tube tv died last week so now get one cheap 24" LCD for bedroom and have one 3D plasma in living room; get Blu-ray, DVD and VHS players; use plastic, paper and tote bags; running win7 but remember using MS-DOS win3; not sure what happened to our portable table, think gone. One thing I prefer is the printed page. I rather read from a book or newspaper although most of my reading and writing is on the computer. I prefer keyboarding over handwriting but rather draw/paint by hand over a graphics tablet.
