Da Countdown Is On
By Braddah Lance
If there's one thing dat has been rejuvenated ovah da past decade is da University of Hawaii football team. Gone are da von Appen days and evah since, it's been a roller coaster ride wit da succeeding coaches most notably June Jones.
There was so much love for da "'Bows" back in da day and I remembah da stadium shaking violently as if Mauna Kea was erupting beneath da seats with fans screaming "Rain" - "'Bows". There was barely an empty seat in da house especially on those rival games and it didn't mattah if you went to UH or not, as long as you lived in da islands, you supported da Rainbows.
Now, not so much.
Well, it depends on da "W" since "rebuilding" is a far gone term in athletics and winning must come instantly or be subject to criticism from da media and "back-seat coaches" with job security always being dangled. Once you lose, unless you're a name brand, you're pretty much through in da college rankings and heaven forbid you lose two while being a "third world college" and you literally become an afterthought in a punchline of a joke.
Wassup Wit Dat!
Now we usher in a new era wit Coach Norm Chow. A local product dat has made his mark not only da collegiate ranks but wit da NFL as well - and doesn't he just looks "Hawaii"? He has stirred up long awaited excitement back in da 808 and we're anxiously awaiting how da season will turn out. While we don't know wat to expect, at least we'll have something to cheer about and we'll see if da bandwagon grows during Chow Time. I dunno about you, but I am very anxious for 1pm to come soon enough as I fire up da grill and fill da cooler wit refreshments.
Win or lose, for da next few months it's all about football, beer, football, ono grindz and some more football. It doesn't mattah if it's high school, college or da NFL, we'll be watching, complaining but most of all trying to gain bragging rights. I know da 808 will be checking in.

No lose hope! The Warriors will rise again!!!
Lots of positive stuff and lots of stuff to learn. Best things are no major injuries and the played to the end.

Football is not my thing anymore, but hope Chow can do a creditable job, win or lose. AD problem was a distraction, which should not have happened. Go figure.
