Da Busiest Time Of Year

November 26th, 2012

While there were many who braved Thankless Thursday (da newest shopping day) and Black Friday, I braved da internet last week instead cause had choke online "doorbusters" as well. I bought a drill set about a month ago and low and behold, I was surprised to see it as a "doorbuster" online.... for FIFTY BUCKS LESS! Plus there was an upgraded extended battery dat was half off as well!

I decided to buy it and return my original set and battery (unopened) since I was about to save about $100 and placed my order online. I got a confirmation and waited for da pickup email.

Late in da afternoon da next day I get da pickup email but there was something wrong. My drill set and battery got canceled.

Huh?

I didn't cancel it so I called da store and hea's wea da fun begins.

BL: I placed an order online and got the pickup email but it shows that my drill set and battery was canceled - how come?
SEARS PEARLRIDGE: You have to call the 1-800 # cause we don't know about online orders.
BL: (since it's common wit internet orders) Ok.
BL: (calling 1-800#) I placed an online order and now the email I received shows items were canceled - why is that?
SEARS ONLINE: (looking at order) The store shows that none are available right now so your order was canceled.
BL: But I place the order last night and it's almost 24 hours later.... so my order wasn't pulled? It takes that long to pull an order? Why did I receive a confirmation that the items were in stock when I placed the order then?
SEARS ONLINE: It probably was, but it isn't now.
BL: Huh? So you're going to take an order and show it's in stock but then later rescind - without the customer knowing - and tell a consumer it's not in stock the next day? Why have online orders then? How can a consumer shop with confidence? When placing an order, your system shows which stores have it in stock - why would it show otherwise as when the items are purchased, it gets removed from stock?
SEARS ONLINE: I can't help you.
BL: HUH? You can't help me? Are you not customer service? Is there someone there that can?
SEARS ONLINE: I just work in an office here. I can put in a complaint but that's all I can do. You know this is the busiest time of the year right?

Are you frickin' kidding me?!? Did she just tell me that this is the busiest time of year???

Wassup Wit Dat!

And da way she said it made me shmall kine nuts so I just said to put in da damn complaint and hung up.

I went down to da store to pick up da items dat were "in stock" and wat do I see as soon as I walk into da store? 3 batteries and 5 drill sets - Out of stock my okole! I couldn't believe it and now was frickin' pissed but played it cool as I explained everything to da manager. Aftah some excuses, she apologized and just gave me a refund for da difference of da items instead of having me to buy and return them.

Anybody have any shopping woes to share? Are you all up in your keyboard with Cyber Monday? If anybody finds a deal on SDXC cards (16GB+ @ miniumum 30mb/s+), let me know please!

Cause we all know you ain't on your work computah working.

I shopped online from Best Buy on Wednesday night and got what I wanted for $30.00 less than it was advertised for on Black Friday and free shipping. On Thursday I looked online again and it was still available for the same price and still free shipping so I got another one and I already got confirmation that both items were shipped.

  3. M:

Last Friday we want to Walmart around 8am and it wasn't crowded by dat time. We still was able to find stuff that we were looking for.

    Doing online shop/surfing now.

Da wife usually does the Amazon thing. She's had great luck finding items we want and/or need that is cheaper than retail stores. Plus she has the Amazon Prime, free shipping so we get the item in 1 or 2 days time.

Wow. How come you get this kine things happen to you so much? :)

I only had one bad experience with ordering online. I ordered a hard to find book. They said the book was in stock, but then could not locate a copy after I placed the order. My card was not charged. They gave me the option of staying on a wait list or cancelling the order. I cancelled it after 3 weeks of them searching.

BL, I would definitely be pissed as well. I would have gone to da store showed my confirmation and demand they give me the items I ordered. Talk about getting the runaround.

Ask them to spell and define "customer service". No gurantee they will be able to correctly spell or define it, though.

Ask why they are not providing customer service, then ask for a manager.

ZOMG, BL! That would make me Big Kine Nutz! (okay, that don't look too right in print lol) But that is epic FAIL! No wonder Sears is going down da toilet... they don't care anymore!

Except for that mgr. She should get hired by a better company.

My daddy, back in da day, would have said "Not dea, I tell you". What with super easy access to media, social and otherwise, businesses cannot afford to have less than stellar customer service.

Sorry you had to have this experience, BL. But you know, its' da busiest time of da year! ay sus.

If can, file complaint with the Better Business Bureau and the State Attorney General. Don't let Sears get away with this crap. :-)

    Guud Morning BL!

I've been in the customer service reps position. It sucks, you're powerless. You did the right thing by approaching a manager and being polite, that is how you get s%&t taken care of at the retail level!

I had a similar problem last year when I went online to buy a surge protector from Best Buy. I purchased it on Thanksgiving nite, and it showed item was "in stock" in Aiea BB. I chose the option to "pickup at store", and awaited for my email that item was ready to pickup. I got an email confirmation that the order was placed and went off to enjoy the rest of the Thanksgiving party. Later in the evening, I decided to see if I could buy the same item again. But no luck, it was "out of stock". I was glad I was able to snage one without waiting all nite for just 1 item.

The next day, I received an email that my purchase was canceled. After calling customer service, they told me that the item was possibly sold before my order was processed at the Aiea BB. Unfortunately, the mainland stores were out of stock also, and if it were in stock, they could not offer free shipping to the store for pickup. I was ticked off that a big chain store could screw up a simple order. The rep apologized and offered to sell me another model at a reduced price, but I told her that the one I ordered was 50% off. Unless I got the same deal, I was never buying from BB again. She said OK, and gave me the special pricing of 50% off, and made sure it was available for pickup at the Aiea BB the next day. Sometimes, you have to b!itch alot to get justice. But I will never buy online on Black Thursday/Friday again.

  14. M:

Just checked my online items from Best Buy ordered on 11/21 and 22 and both items are scheduled to be delivered by UPS before end of the day on 11/29.

I do quite a lot on Amazon too. I'm surprised dat most, not all, da items I look for do come out cheaper plus FREE shipping to Hawaii - can't beat dat... although cause it's free it takes a little longer.

Das wat some places do. They "keep" your order/pricing cause they screwed up and take care of da customer but now it's like take it or leave it.

Das why I prefer to do a lot of online shopping unless I want to actually see/touch wat I'm interested in. I've yet to really meet a very knowledgeable "customer service/sales associate/commission maker".

Except for that mgr. She should get hired by a better company.

Rogah, da manager was cool - but then again... she is da manager.

Sorry you had to have this experience, BL. But you know, its' da busiest time of da year! ay sus.

But at da same time, if da CSR's are informed of solutions, even with manager approval, things would run much bettah. It's those who really just don't care rub people da wrong way. But yes, it is from experience dat being polite, especially to people with "power", is da way to go.

But in case gotta b!t#h.... das wat WWD! is for.

Only complaint, is buyer's remorse. Bought a new high priced car 11/20 with a 5 years maintenance contract. We do not drive much and after got home and reading maintence book for the new car the 1st service is 2,000 mile or 1 year, the next is 5,000, mile and then 10,000. Heck, I p[aid too much for the prepaid maintence contract,$4,000 plus, for 5 years. Checking my old car's maitenance file it cost less than $2,500 for the servivce period. Made big booboo, and now mahoo.
